MAC Trend Report SS15
The view on my window pane isn’t anywhere near a description of spring or summer, but that doesn’t deter me from enjoying the current MAC makeup trends (and writing about them too!). Whether you’re looking for makeup inspiration or want to keep up with the latest in beauty, read on for a run-through of the key looks circulating the recent fashion weeks.
NO MAKEUP is always a favourite look of mine, trend or no trend. Hydrated bare skin with minimal coverage (concealer is your friend) plus minimal everything, really. If you read further, you’ll notice the theme of minimalism throughout the MAC SS15 Trends.
Key products: Add a natural glow using Prep + Prime Natural Radiance and shape the brows with Eye Brows in Lingering (medium brown). Keep everything looking natural. The Trend Forecast Spring 15/Lip and Cheek is a perfect seasonal palette for adding soft colour to the lips, cheeks, and eyes. My favourite is Go Guava (middle left), a muted pink nude
RE:VIEW is a retreat to the classic black liner and mascara–lots of it. Eyes are lined effortlessly or in artistic placements. Lashes are packed with black mascara. Forget eyeshadows. The vital detail is bare (or glossy) lids.
Key products: The Studio Sculpt Superblack Lash only has two rows of hard bristles on its wand which makes for a precise application, but could be a bit tricky for use on lower lashes. The Super Slick Liquid Eye Liner in Defiantly Feline described as blacker-than-black, is actually a shimmery dark brown–oddly enough.
ENLIGHTENED puts a spotlight on bright and radiant complexion. A quick way to incorporate light is a glossy lid and highlight on the cheeks. Taking brightness a bit further results in an ethereal look with erased lashes and bleached brows as with the case of Haider Ackermann (top right) and Issey Miyake (middle left).
Key products: The Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly does the trick for the eyes alone, but I’m all for Lightscapade (Mineralize Skinfinish Perfect Topping) for highlighting the lids, cheeks, and/or face.
Tip: For a modern look, take a cue from Aquilano.Rimondi (top right) and pair lightness with neon pink lips. Candy Yum-Yum Lip Pencil and Lip Glass from the new MAC Pencilled In Collection, available in New Zealand March 16, 2015.
Lastly, there’s FREE PARTY. Playful colours set against bare skin exudes vibrant festival and urban street-style vibes. Like the other trends, go easy on foundation. Unlike the other trends, go carefree.
So, which makeup trend are you excited to experiment with?
