Hobbiton: A Visit to Middle Earth
There’s the ecstatic feeling of scenes from a movie transform into reality right in front of your eyes, and the excitement of walking and exploring amongst its paths. At least, that’s how it was for me felt when I stepped onto the lands of Hobbiton, The Shire, New Zealand’s Matamata, The Middle Earth. It’s been nearly two years since we visited this quaint farm turned into magical town when I suddenly felt the need to revisit it in pictures. So I dug through my archives and found a few gems to share.
It was a grey spring day during our visit, but everything still looked beautiful.
I had to keep reminding myself I was in a movie set and not in Tolkien’s Middle Earth. The landscape is spectacular–the view from Bilbo’s place was the best. Other times, I was squealing in delight at the sight of the charming little hobbit holes.
At the end of our visit, we had drinks at the bar inside The Green Dragon. And as soon as we got home, we relived the experience in the movies.
