Current Beauty Faves

It’s no secret that I’m a huge YSL Beauty fan, so when I mention faves, there’s always going to be a YSL in there somewhere. Honestly, I have yet to come across a release from them that hasn’t impressed me (I may be biased, but seriously). The Kiss & Love collection sets the soon-to-be holiday mood in the most romantic way. One glance and it’s love, especially when there are kiss marks engraved on the tube of Rouge Pur Couture Collector Kiss and Love edition. Swoon. These will be out in NZ in a couple of weeks, but you’ll have to wait until November to get your hands on the Touch Éclat Kiss & Love edition. More swoon.

I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m all for facial oils. And now YSL has found its way to my skincare routine with the Forever Youth Liberator Water in Oil, said to have anti-aging properties from the plant sugar ingredient ‘Glycanactif.’ While I can’t vouch for the anti-aging claims, I like it for its water-like texture and oil-like glow. Oh, and that bottle!

By the way, that cutie with the scarf looking so posh is Lancôme La Vie est Belle–my sweet fruity floral fragrance of moment. I’ve been receiving so many compliments on this one!

I’m really liking warm colour for eyes and MAC Haute Dogs Mineralize Eye Shadow in Pure Bred is perfect for everyday use. The mineralize shadows are super fine, super soft, and super blendable. For days when I’m feeling more razzly dazzly, I turn to NARS x Christopher Kane Parallel Universe for the lovely pale pink and pale purple shimmers. And if it’s drama I’m after, then it’s YSL Metal Clash lined with a super black YSL Couture Kajal.

The new MAC Studio Waterweight Foundation has been touted as liquid gold and it also gets top rating from me for its dewy skin-like light coverage (just how I like my base) and SPF30. I apply it with a MAC 196 Slanted Flat Top Foundation Brush which the perfect pair for application as it is soft, dense, and buffs the best. I haven’t used anything else for base aside from these two since I’ve started using them weeks ago.

When it comes to nails, I’m going back to nudes these days with essie Sand Tropez topped off with essie Gel Setter Top Coat. The trick is to let your polish dry completely before applying the top coat and voila–no one would know they’re not gel! And they last a bit longer too, an extra 2-3 days.

I’ve a few colours on rotation when it comes to lips. Red orange is a huge colour for me right now and I love MAC Vamplify Push Some Buttons for this–I have been on the lookout for a pigmented gloss in this shade and I’m so glad when this ended up on my doorstep! MAC Viva Glam Miley II is a beautiful bright red orange as well. For everyday, Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Dynamic is a warm pinky nude that makes my complexion glow (FYI, they have a GWP promotion–Opening Ceremony designer tote, cosmetic bag and samples). And for something more subtle, NARS x Christopher Kane in Glow Pink, when worn alone, glosses and stains an ever so slightly pretty pink.
